How important is sleep?
Well some researchers believe that lack of sleep or good restful sleep can lead to a lot of medical conditions including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and more! There are also studies that suggest our mental state is bettered when we sleep more restful. Restful sleep is said to provide better brain function and emotional well being.
Then there is the performance of our daily activities. We all know when we sleep well we seem to have a happy and more productive day. I know a good sleep and some great coffee do it for me! ;-)
So what makes you get a good night's sleep or a more restful sleep?
Some would say physical activity before bed seems to help. I know I prefer exercising at night myself and if I cannot sleep, I sometimes get out of bed and do some crunches. Sex is another one on some of your minds and while some it seems to put them right to sleep, others seem to think the endorphins wake them up! Talk about counter-effect!
Why do we seem to sleep better in a hotel that is quiet?
I used to travel a lot each month and stayed in a lot of hotels. Since it was an expense account it was mostly nicer places. The bedding was so silky and soft and the pillows were fluffy, and those black out drapes certainly helped me!
I know bedding plays a very important role in this major issue plaguing most people around the world. If I have a clean, fresh set of sheets and a comfortable adjusting pillow I seem to have a more restful night of sleep. Obviously it is more than just as simple as bedding, but that one factor can start the process to creating a bedroom that allows you to escape into the world of slumber and find your peace, zen and Lacuna that you require for health.
I love to spray my sheets with one of our Fabric Mists (especially the Lavender one) to refresh them every night! It also helps me to drift off. Of course I sleep on Lacuna sheets and pillows, after all I got into this business of giving people ways of taking a pause, break or "Lacuna" from the chaos that is their daily life. Bedding, Natural Scents are just the beginning.
Wear yourself out before sleeping, whatever that may be, but take the time to change your bedtime routine and surroundings to help get you the complete and healthy slumber you so richly deserve and need.
